The New York Yacht Club (NYYC) is one of the oldest and most prestigious yacht clubs in the United States. Founded in 1844 by nine prominent sportsmen, the club was the keeper of the America's Cup from 1851 until 1983, successfully defending the trophy 24 times in a row for 132 years, the longest winning streak in sports history.
The club maintains two iconic clubhouses: the historic Manhattan clubhouse at 37 West 44th Street, designated a National Historic Landmark, and Harbor Court, a spectacular waterfront clubhouse in Newport, Rhode Island. The Manhattan clubhouse is renowned for its Model Room, which houses one of the world's largest collections of full and half hull ship models.
With approximately 3,000 members, the NYYC remains at the forefront of yachting, organizing prestigious regattas such as the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup and the NYYC Annual Regatta, the oldest continuously run sailing competition in the U.S. The club continues to promote excellence in yacht design, naval architecture, and navigation.

Membership Requirements
Membership to the New York Yacht Club is by invitation only. Candidates must be sponsored by two current members in good standing, with additional letters of support from other members. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in yachting and maritime activities.
Application Process
The application process requires nomination by two current members who have been in good standing for at least five years. Candidates must submit a detailed application, undergo interviews, and be approved by the membership committee before final approval by the governing board. The entire process typically takes 6-12 months.

Guest Policy
Members may bring guests to the club facilities. Guests must be signed in and accompanied by the member at all times. Each guest may visit the club no more than three times per month.
