About St. Petersburg Yacht Club

The St. Petersburg Yacht Club (SPYC), established in 1909, holds the distinction of being the oldest yacht club on Florida's west coast. Located in downtown St. Petersburg overlooking Tampa Bay, the club enjoys Florida's perfect year-round sailing conditions and has been a cornerstone of the region's maritime community for over a century.

The club's Mediterranean Revival-style clubhouse, built in 1917, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and offers members elegant facilities with spectacular waterfront views. With approximately 2,000 members, SPYC maintains a vibrant community of sailing and powerboating enthusiasts.

SPYC has a rich racing tradition, including hosting the historic St. Petersburg-Havana Regatta (first held in 1930) and numerous national and international championships. The club organizes the annual Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series and many other competitive events throughout the year.

The club offers comprehensive programs including youth sailing, adult sailing instruction, cruising events, and fishing tournaments. With its combination of historic charm, modern amenities, and active calendar of events, SPYC continues to be one of America's premier yacht clubs while playing a vital role in St. Petersburg's waterfront community.
