Visit WebsiteAbout San Diego Yacht Club
The San Diego Yacht Club (SDYC), established in 1886, stands as one of the oldest and most respected yacht clubs on the West Coast. Located in Point Loma on San Diego Bay, the club benefits from Southern California's ideal year-round sailing conditions.
The club rose to international prominence as the home of Stars & Stripes and skipper Dennis Conner, who reclaimed the America's Cup in 1987 and successfully defended it in 1988 and 1992. This legacy has cemented SDYC's place in sailing history and continues to inspire its competitive racing programs.
With excellent facilities including a marina with approximately 600 slips, multiple dining venues, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a junior sailing facility, SDYC offers comprehensive amenities for its members. The club hosts numerous prestigious regattas, including the San Diego Yacht Club Yachting Cup and the iconic Sir Thomas Lipton Challenge Cup.
SDYC's Junior Sailing Program is nationally recognized, having produced numerous collegiate All-Americans, Olympic competitors, and world champions. The club maintains a perfect balance between honoring its rich traditions while embracing innovation in the sport of sailing.
